The major traffic arteries of the district are the A 14 and the B 71. Then there’s the Federal Road 6n (similar to a highway) which connects the Salzland district with the highways 7 and 9, as well as the inter-regional railway route from Magdeburg to Leipzig, and the railway connections of Halberstadt-Halle, Magdeburg-Sangerhausen and Aschersleben-Köthen.
