A winning location! More and more companies are relocating their production, logistics sites and even their company headquarters to the administrative district Börde. Our most recent gain, of which we are proud, is automotive supplier IFA ROTORION.
The present company, a merger between former state holding company, IFA, and Rotorion GmbH from Friedrichshafen, relocated its entire headquarters in 2011 to Haldensleben in the administrative district Börde. Today, IFA ROTORION - Holding GmbH is among the top 50 German supply enterprises and the largest automotive company in Saxony-Anhalt. The company boasts around 1,000 employees at the Haldensleben, Gardelegen and Irxleben sites, an in-house research and development department and a personnel development programme designed to prevent such problems as shortage of qualified and management staff before they occur. And 8 – 10 per cent of the entire workforce consists of apprentices and students in the dual training/study system. So when are you changing over to the winning side?
Dr. Martin Sobczyk
Head of Production at IFA Rotorion
In August 2009, Dr. Sobczyk became team manager responsible for relocating the production site of Rotorion GmbH from Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance to Haldensleben. He faced a major challenge: “The first time I set eyes on the company premises, there was no way I could have imagined that one of the world’s most modern drive shaft factories would soon be operating here. One of the halls dating from the 1970s was full of old machines and, behind that, were the tracks of the old cannon railway leading to Hillersleben. Between them, trees, grass and a few blackberry bushes had taken over. It took a lot of imagination, but you could already get an idea of would soon arise on the spot – a factory hall with more than 8,000m² of production space and an almost 3,000m² dispatch area.”
