Our region also boasts an active and lively range of clubs and associations for pastimes such as nature conservation, choir singing, fishing, astronomy, the Lions Club and many more. Barleben alone has 17 sports clubs offering, for example, riding, handball, tennis and karate. We have many leisure facilities, but we’re particularly proud of the Mittelland Hall; in 2004 the new building was integrated into a historic rectangular courtyard within a listed building, and the result is an architectural gem. The region's largest and most modern sport and leisure facility is located in the centre of Barleben – a barrier-free venue which hosts sporting and cultural events and has a multimedia system and state-of-the-art technical equipment.
