The schools in the state capital foster a learning culture which focuses on people and capabilities like interdisciplinary exchange, responsibility and integration in a vital democracy. This culture of learning is marked by an ecumenical Christian influence and a focus on music, modern languages and ecology at Magdeburg’s European School (Domgymnasium) or natural and social sciences at the Albert Einstein Grammar School, built in 1994. These learning institutions are producing a new generation of school-leavers who see the big picture, achieve excellence and can look forward to prospects in the region while at the same time representing prospects for the region.
