The Burg Theater is Germany’s oldest continuously operating movie theatre and – aside from short periods of refurbishment – surviving storms and floods since its opening in 1911. Heavy curtains, cosy armchairs, the whirr of the projector, dust particles dancing in shafts of light... this jewel even has a bar in the cinema with a view of the screen. The cinema is now operated by the 'Weitblick' association which has been described by Saxony-Anhalt’s Culture Minister as an outstanding model of citizen action and which was praised by the Film Promotion Institute (FFA) for its programme of European and German productions. Roll the film!
