In Bernburg's Eulenspiegel tower, the majestic palace keep, notorious rogue Till Eulenspiegel is supposed to have worked as a tower trumpeter in 1325. In the 22nd episode of the 1515 Eulenspiegel book, it is said that he had sounded a false alarm so he could help himself to food left behind by soldiers who had gone off to battle.
