Saale Gorge Nature Reserve
Steep rocks and slopes can be found on both sides of the Saale River in the 'Lower Saale Valley Natural Reserve' near Rothenburg. Deciduous forests, waterways, meadow orchards, arid biotopes and viticulture characterise this landscape, which forms part of the NATURA 2000 European nature reserve system.
