Astounding biodiversity
The Mittelelbe biosphere
reserve forms part of the Elbe biosphere reserve which was recognised by UNESCO in 1997. This unique meadow landscape is home to many endangered animals and plants. Some 1,000 different plants, more than 250 birds, 30 kinds of bees and more than 50 dragonfly species are free to thrive here.
