An enlightened region

In 2005, the state of Saxony-Anhalt designated this mountain range, carved out in the Ice Age as the 'Naturpark Fläming' natural reserve, including its mature cultural landscape. This extensive and sparsely-populated area was the birthplace of the Protestant Reformation while the Möckern battle on 5 April 1813 marked the successful start of the war of liberation against Napoleon.
